ruff
A book / ruff collar, hybrid. The form of this outdated garment, so prominent in the
fashion of the arising bourgeoisie of early modernity, marks a striking division between head and body.
The ruff at hand consists of some twenty meters of finely ruffled silk fabric.
The images hiding in the folds are observations of dead-ends of instrumental reason, whose ascent we associate precisely with the early modern period.
